The two sets of sizes cover two different use cases: A5 through A3 are the standard ISO paper sizes most people already picture for printed work, while the inch sizes (12×18 through 24×36) are the wall-art range, closer to what a poster shop would stock for a room.

Because a poster prints the full artwork without a garment shape or fabric colour to work around, the same design usually previews faster and more predictably here than it does on a t-shirt or a hoodie.
What works well as a poster
A single striking image or illustration reads better at poster scale than a busy collage. Typography posters — a quote, a short line — print cleanly since there’s no fabric texture to interrupt the ink, the way there would be on a t-shirt. A photo blown up to 24×36in should start from a high-resolution file; a small, compressed image will come out soft at that size.
A poster is also the simplest way to reuse a design made elsewhere on the site — a graphic drawn for a t-shirt or a mug can be placed on a poster at a size a shirt or a mug could never carry.
