Photo t-shirts, printed from your own picture

Not every photo needs the background removed — a portrait shot against a plain wall or sky often looks fine printed as-is. It matters most for a photo taken against a cluttered or mismatched background, where cutting the subject out stops that background printing as a rectangle on the shirt.

A photo taken in good light on a recent phone camera prints well at most sizes. Heavily compressed images — a screenshot of a photo, or one forwarded through several chat apps — lose detail that shows up once it’s enlarged to shirt size, so start from the original file where you can. Group photos work better on the back, where there’s more room for everyone to be visible; a close-up portrait suits the smaller front or sleeve placement.
